Mahindra XUV500 SUV completes ASEAN India Car Rally 2012 ...

Second edition of ASEAN-India Car Rally 2012, a three week long rally which commenced in Singapore late last year, concluded successfully when they arrived in India. The Rally was organized by CII -Confederation of Indian Industry and was powered by Mahindra XUV500. 28 XUV500 participated in this Rally traversing through 8 ASEAN countries over a distance of 8000 kms and tackled highways, dirt tracks, mountainous regions and valleys and was even ferried across rivers along the route to finally come to an end at Delhi.

Mahindra XUV500 which was the exclusive vehicle partner through this rally has been devised and built as a Global SUV. It has stood the test of proving its mettle across these diverse road and off road conditions bringing to the fore Mahindra's tough and rugged DNA.

The Rally saw 31 cars with 116 participants from 11 countries travelling through 8 of the 10 ASEAN countries. The teams reached Guwahati, Assam on 17th Dec 2012, the last destination of the rally, after a period of 22 days of travel. Mahindra XUV500 has proved once again its tough rallying conditions as they have in the past with Dakshin Dare, Mughal Rally, Desert Storm and Raid de Himalaya in India besides the Rally dos Sertoes in Brazil. 'ASEAN-India Car Rally 2012', powered by Mahindra XUV500s, concluded successfully

New Delhi, December 28, 2012: The second edition of the ASEAN-India Car Rally 2012, organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and powered by Mahindra XUV500s, was formally flagged in at Delhi, recently. The ceremonial flag in was held in the presence of all the heads of the states of the ASEAN countries, including the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Mr. Manmohan Singh.

The three week long rally that commenced from Singapore, had 28 XUV500s traveling through 8 ASEAN countries over 8,000kms. Having crossed highways, dirt tracks and even a ferry through rivers, mountainous terrain, verdant valleys and coastal areas of Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar, the expedition entered India through the Moreh border in Imphal, Manipur. Thereafter the expedition moved on to Kohima and Dimapur in Nagaland and then reached Guwahati, before formally concluding its journey in Delhi.

According to Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. "We are happy to successfully conclude the ASEAN-India Car Rally 2012. The XUV500, which was conceived and built as a Global SUV, was chosen as the exclusive vehicle partner for the rally. The XUV500 proved its might yet again, having successfully completed the rally across international borders. The tough and rugged Mahindra DNA ensured that all 28 vehicles came through with flying colours in the 8,000 km long rally that traversed gruelling conditions across the ASEAN countries".

Mr. Nayer further added, "The ASEAN rally is in sync with Mahindra Adventure's proposition of 'Accepting No Limits.' Mahindra SUVs are noted for proving themselves in the toughest rallying conditions with notable examples being the podium finish for Dakshin Dare, Mughal Rally, Desert Storm and Raid de Himalaya in India and the gruelling Rally dos Sertoes in Brazil. This rally was no exception."
